Jean Marius Mottet participated in the restructuring of the firm in 1998, helping to establish a strong, professional team that share the same values. Building on his corporate and commercial practice, he has applied his business acumen and entrepreneurial approach to advising his clients on matters that extend beyond legal issues. He also helps his commercial clients in their strategic positioning efforts, in part through his services as a trademark agent, offering sound advice on the protection of trademarks and other assets. In addition, Mr. Mottet advises and supports his clients in developing and implementing their restructuring plans and in conducting commercial transactions. His pragmatic approach is particularly appreciated in the franchise sector, where he helps many companies with both transactions and franchisee relations.
Interests and involvement: Since 1990, Mr. Mottet has been actively involved in the Laval business community, helping to organize numerous activities that aim to bring it closer to the legal community. In addition to his family and professional activities, he is involved with and sits on the boards of a number of charitable organizations that notably help underprivileged children and the less fortunate in Laval. He has been a member of Club Richelieu since 1992, is a past president of Fondation Habitation Laval, and is chair of the board of the new Centre de pédiatrie sociale Laval. His work as a volunteer has also been recognized by the City of Laval, which honoured him with the 2014 Hosia award (Hommage aux bénévoles) in the “Vie de quartier” category, and his peers at the Barreau de Laval awarded him the “Linda Guillemette” prize in September 2014 as the courts resumed their work.
